Support the Ethnic Heritage Museum by shopping at Barnes & Nobles in Cherryvale Mall on Saturday, April 25th, all day. In an effort to raise funds to enlarge the museum’s current location.

The Ethnic Heritage Museum located at 1129 South Main Street built in the 1890’s, houses the cultural history of the six nationalities that were prominent in southwest Rockford: African American, Italian, Irish, Polish, Lithuanian and Hispanic.

The Board of Directors of the museum would like to add a multi-purpose room to the six galleries. So, the museum is working with Barnes & Noble Booksellers by hosting an international bookfair at the Barnes & Noble store located in Cherryvale Mall.

Barnes & Nobles will contribute a percentage of every sale made with a special bookfair voucher to the Ethnic Heritage Museum! Vouchers are available online at the museum’s website wwwethnicheritagemuseum.org and in hard copy at the Ethnic Heritage Museum located 1129 South Main Street.

The International Bookfair at Barnes & Nobles will help the Ethnic Heritage Museum in several ways.
First, a percentage of bookfair sales will underwrite the museum’s effort to help build the addition to its current location. Second, their library will be able to create a wish list for titles to enhance the library collection in the various galleries. Bookfair supporters may choose books from an in-store wish list display to purchase for the libraries.

The Ethnic Heritage Museum will host international entertainment during this bookfair on April 25th from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM featuring local entertainers.

Schedule of entertainment:

11:00 - Mexican dancers
12:00 – Mihon McKenny – Polish violinist
1:00 – Carl Cole – African American singer/pianist
2:00 – Shirley DeBenedetto - Italian storyteller
3:00 – Brian McConnell – Irish Bagpiper
4:00 – TBA
